Fraser is a double threat: alongside his incredible hard be-bop tenor sax he also sings in the Chet Baker lineage - understated, melodic, a horn player's vocal - and the switch between blowing and singing shapes the arc of the set. The Quartet is Smith, Rob Barron (piano; Al Jarreau, Patti Austin), Simon Read (bass), Steve Brown (a British bebop maestro on drums since the nineties). TipTop! (Ubuntu, 2023) hit 1.3 million streams; LifeLine! (2025) made The Times' Best Albums list - four stars, Guardian 'off the scale'. Ronnie Scott's, Pizza Express, 606 Club, Love Supreme.
HERE'S A TASTE OF FRASER'S INCREDIBLE SAXOPHONE PLAYING.
AND YOU CAN HEAR HIM SING HERE!
The "Sofa Sessions" turn a café into a very special intimate space. Gather round outstanding artists as they play squeezed onto the sofas, no stage between you and the music. The constraint shapes everything - lighter amplification, closer listening, room to swing from quiet to raucous. Up to five players. One Midhurst venue, no barrier.
