"The Cellar Sessions": H.M.T. feat. Neville "Level" Malcolm

I first heard bassist "Level" Neville - a name given to him because of his incredible sense of "in the pocket" groove - seven yeras ago in a basement club in North London during which he held a room of his own peers in a state of sheer disbelief as he fronted his own trio and showed the most extraordinary, and intense jazz bass mastery. Neville is one of the UK's most called bass players. Gospel roots, acid jazz era London scene, professional since the early nineties. Credits run deep: Jack DeJohnette, Billy Cobham, Roy Ayers, Gregory Porter, George Benson, Tom Jones, Gabrielle, Incognito, Eric Bibb. He leads 'Level Neville Malcolm & Friends' at London jazz clubs and works as a sideman at every level of the UK scene. Earthy tone, economical technique, a musician's musician.

For tonight's performance he is joined by Sean Hargreaves (James Arthur, Don Black, Andrea Bocelli, Paloma Faith, Ella Henderson, Becky Hill, Rita Ora, Mica Paris, Sam Ryder) on keyboards and Mark Taylor (Eddie ‘Lockjaw’ Davis, Joe Henderson, Lee Konitz, Pharoah Sanders, Sonny Stitt, Chet Baker, Randy Brecker) on drums. Together the form the H.M.T. Trio - three absolute masters in one small intimate performance.
